• A minimum of five years of cumulative, full-time experience across two or more CISSP Exam Outline domains.
• A post-secondary degree in computer science, IT, or related fields can reduce the experience requirement by one year.
• Holding an additional credential from the ISC2-approved list can also substitute for up to one year of experience.
• Part-time work and internships are considered towards fulfilling the experience requirement.
• Alternatively, candidates without the required experience can become an Associate of ISC2 by passing the CISSP exam. Associates have six years to accumulate the five years of required experience.

Work Experience Guidelines:

• Must accumulate a minimum of 35 hours per week for at least four weeks to count as one month of work experience.
• Minimum of 20 hours and maximum of 34 hours per week.
• 1,040 part-time hours = 6 months of full-time experience.
• 2,080 part-time hours = 12 months of full-time experience.
• Both paid and unpaid internships qualify.
• Documentation is required on official letterhead confirming your role.
• For school internships, the confirmation should be on the registrar’s stationery.
